The Executive Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government, Honourable Kehinde Akande, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for the swift and successful rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Friday, Hon. Akande described the governor’s intervention and the collaboration between state security agencies, Amotekun, and federal forces as a demonstration of responsible and people-centered leadership.
He noted that the safe return of the abducted pupils and teachers has brought relief not only to their families and Oriire community, but to the entire state.
“Governor Seyi Makinde has once again shown that the security and welfare of Oyo State citizens remain his top priority. The rescue operation was timely, professional, and it sends a strong message that Oyo State will not tolerate acts of banditry and kidnapping,” Hon. Akande said.

The Ibadan South West chairman further lauded the governor’s continued investment in security architecture, including the strengthening of Amotekun, intelligence gathering, and support for community policing across the 33 local governments.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and to support security agencies with credible information, stressing that collective effort is key to sustaining peace in the state.
Hon. Akande also prayed for continued safety of students and teachers across Oyo State and reaffirmed the commitment of Ibadan South West Local Government to align with the state government’s policies on education, security, and grassroots development.
The abduction in Oriire had earlier sparked concern among parents and stakeholders before the state government announced the successful rescue of all victims unhurt.
