The political landscape in Oyo West Local Government received a significant boost on Friday as prominent leaders of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), including Hon. Olorunpoto Cephas Rahaman, a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing the good people of Oyo East/Oyo West State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Atilola, and Alhaji Isiaka Adebayo, formally welcomed a large delegation of defectors from the ACCORD Party into the fold of the party.
The delegation, led by Alhaja Bilikisu Ishola, comprised ward and local government executives, party faithful, and numerous supporters who unanimously declared their allegiance to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), pledging to work collectively for the party’s growth and success ahead of future political engagements.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Olorunpoto Cephas Rahaman described the development as a clear indication of the growing confidence of the people in the vision and leadership of the APM. He attributed the increasing support for the party to his unwavering commitment to delivering on campaign promises and championing impactful community development projects across the constituency.
He highlighted the ongoing LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Annex project as one of the landmark initiatives facilitated under his representation.

According to him, the successful reopening of 23 previously closed public schools remains another major achievement aimed at improving access to quality education and restoring hope to affected communities.
Hon. Olorunpoto further noted that the Mini Stadium project, which is nearing completion, alongside several other self-sponsored developmental interventions across the constituency, reflects his dedication to responsive leadership, grassroots development, and the welfare of the people.
In their separate goodwill messages, Rt. Hon. Atilola and Alhaji Isiaka Adebayo congratulated the new entrants for identifying with the ideals of the Allied Peoples Movement.
They emphasized that unity, loyalty, and collective commitment remain essential to building a stronger political platform that can deliver inclusive governance and sustainable development.
The party leaders assured the defectors that the APM remains committed to internal democracy, fairness, and people-centered leadership, stressing that every member would be given equal opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the party.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Alhaja Bilikisu Ishola commended the exemplary leadership of Hon. Olorunpoto, Rt. Hon. Atilola, Alhaji Isiaka Adebayo, and other party stakeholders, describing their style of leadership as responsible, accessible, and development-driven.
She explained that their decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was informed by prolonged feelings of marginalization and exclusion from the party’s affairs. She expressed confidence that the Allied Peoples Movement would provide an enabling environment where every committed member is valued, recognized, and allowed to thrive politically.
Alhaja Ishola also called on other political stakeholders and residents who seek genuine inclusion, purposeful leadership, and sustainable development to identify with the Allied Peoples Movement, describing it as “a moving train with a clear vision for the future.”
The newly defected members, alongside several other supporters drawn from the Oyo East/Oyo West State Constituency, are expected to be officially presented and integrated into the Allied Peoples Movement during forthcoming ward and local government meetings scheduled to be held in the coming days.
The latest wave of defections is widely seen as another positive development for the APM in Oyo West, reinforcing the party’s growing grassroots acceptance and strengthening its political structure ahead of future electoral contests.
