The Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property by taking decisive steps to implement the resolutions reached at the recently concluded Akinyele Security Summit. The summit, which brought together key security stakeholders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, transport unions, community representatives, and government officials, produced far-reaching resolutions aimed at tackling the evolving security challenges confronting the local government. The resolutions focused on strengthening collaboration among security agencies, improving intelligence gathering, enhancing community participation, and eliminating criminal hideouts across the council area.
In a major move to consolidate the implementation of the summit’s resolutions, Hon. Akinleye distributed four additional patrol motorcycles to security operatives comprising both state and non-state security outfits, as well as the Community Development Council (CDC). The intervention is expected to improve rapid response capabilities, boost surveillance, and enhance the operational efficiency of security personnel, particularly in remote and vulnerable communities. The distribution further reinforces the Chairman’s sustained investment in building a more responsive and effective security network across Akinyele Local Government.
Among the key resolutions adopted at the summit were calls for stronger synergy between state and non-state security agencies, increased public participation through the “See Something, Say Something” initiative, and regular attendance of frontline traditional rulers at the Local Government Peace and Security Committee meetings to facilitate timely information sharing. Participants also urged residents to familiarize themselves with emergency contact lines, particularly the 615 emergency number, while advocating the demolition of illegal structures that could serve as safe havens for criminal elements. The summit equally identified the menace of “one chance” robbery syndicates operating with motorcycles and tricycles around the Sabo-Ojoo axis, recommending immediate engagement with transport unions, banks, and security agencies to eliminate the threat.
Speaking during the event, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye reiterated that security remains a shared responsibility and assured residents that his administration would continue to invest in initiatives capable of protecting lives and creating a peaceful environment for socio-economic development. He noted that the distribution of additional motorcycles was a continuation of previous interventions undertaken by his administration to strengthen the security architecture of Akinyele LG and ensure that security agencies are adequately equipped to respond swiftly to emergencies.

The Executive Chairman’s efforts received overwhelming commendation from stakeholders across the local government. Traditional rulers, religious leaders, community leaders, security operatives, and other participants unanimously applauded Hon. Akinleye for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the safety of residents. They described his consistent investment in security infrastructure, logistics, and stakeholder engagement as a clear demonstration of purposeful governance, noting that the latest intervention would further consolidate the existing security framework within the local government.
The stakeholders also acknowledged that Hon. Akinwole Akinleye’s proactive approach aligns perfectly with the security agenda of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, whose administration has consistently prioritized the protection of lives and property across the state. They expressed confidence that the implementation of the summit’s resolutions, coupled with the Chairman’s sustained support for security agencies, would significantly reduce criminal activities and further position Akinyele Local Government as one of the safest and most peaceful local government areas in Oyo State.
