In a significant development ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Oyo State House of Assembly Consensus Candidate for Lagelu State Constituency, Hon. Akintunde Olajide Emmanuel (AKT), has formally picked up his nomination form under the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Hon. Akintunde, the incumbent lawmaker representing Lagelu in the Oyo State House of Assembly, collected the form on Monday amid cheers from supporters and party stakeholders.
The move comes on the heels of his emergence as the consensus candidate for the constituency, reflecting strong unity and endorsement from critical stakeholders in Lagelu Local Government Area.
Speaking after picking the form, Hon. Akintunde expressed deep appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde and all leaders of Lagelu for the privilege and confidence reposed in him.
“I am humbled by this overwhelming support and the consensus endorsement. I sincerely thank His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, and all the respected leaders of Lagelu for the privilege given to me to serve our people once again.
This is not just about politics; it is about continuing the good work we have started for our people, delivering quality legislation, empowerment programmes, and sustainable development to Lagelu constituency,” he said.
Party chieftains described the development as a strategic step that aligns with broader political realignments in Oyo State, aimed at strengthening democratic choices and good governance.
Hon. Akintunde, who has built a reputation as a dedicated and accessible legislator, chairs key committees in the Assembly and has consistently championed issues affecting his constituents, from security to youth and women empowerment.
The collection of the nomination form solidifies his position as the candidate to beat in the Lagelu State Constituency race, as political activities intensify towards the 2027 polls.
