Rigging plot uncovered in Oyo North APC primaries

Indications emerged last night that the primaries to elect the senatorial candidate of the APC in Oyo North Senatorial District of Oyo State has been compromised as supporters of an aspirant were allegedly sighted on Saturday evening surreptiously sharing result sheets in Ogbomosho ahead of the elections.

Sources within the APC in Oyo State revealed that the results sheets were handed over to the aspirant by one of the prime movers of the Abuja cabal in Ibadan,the state capital, earlier on Saturday during a meeting with the aspirants listed on the Consensus List of the Abuja group.

An aide of a top presidential official in turn handed over the result sheets to party officials in Ogbomosho with specific instructions on what figures to assign to the three contestants in the race.

The aspirant which has been taunted as the favourite of the new Abuja cabal is assigned highest marks across the three local governments in Ogbomosho land.It is suspected that this rigging plan must have been replicated in other parts of the senatorial district.

According to a source who is in the know of the rigging plan, dummy result sheets would be taken to the wards while the figures would be doctored and allotted as originally conceived by the cabal during the transfer of the field results to the original sheets. The original results sheets for Ogbomosho, being coordinated by a former Senator from the area, were the ones being shared out by the aide of a presidential aide on Saturday in Ogbomosho.

The senatorial primaries is taking place only in Oyo North district after the APC disqualified all but one aspirant each in Oyo South and Oyo Central senatorial district, a decision that has left party men restlve in the ancient town of Oyo.

In many footages that has gone viral in the social media since the publication of the mass disqualification, thousands of party faithful in Oyo town were seen lampooning the decision and vowing to resist the imposition of a candidate on them.

The APC appears to have slide into crisis in Oyo State since the Abuja cabal,a group of top federal government elected and appointed officials, hijacked the party leadership and published a list of favourable candidates which it refers to as the Consensus List for the 2027 elections.

The group has worked assidously to actualise the list even as party members decried the action which they claimed could return to the party to the crisis that caused it the elections in 2019 and 2023.
