As political permutations ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State begin to take shape, stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) are increasingly weighing strategic options capable of delivering electoral victory and ensuring balanced governance.

One name gaining prominence in these considerations is Hon. Mojisola Ayodele Fatimo Adesola-Tijani, a seasoned politician, grassroots mobilizer, and former board member of the Ogun State Health Management Board.

A practicing Muslim and indigene of Odogbolu and Ijebu Ode Local Governments—by birth and marriage—Adesola-Tijani is widely regarded as a strong contender for the position of Deputy Governor, particularly in a ticket led by Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.

**Grassroots Strength and Party Loyalty**

With over two decades of active political engagement, Adesola-Tijani has built a reputation for consistency, resilience, and loyalty across party lines. Her political journey spans multiple electoral cycles, beginning with her early participation under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before aligning with the APC, where she has remained an active stakeholder.

She played key roles in the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, serving in the Stakeholders Relations Directorate, as Secretary of the South West Reconciliation Committee, and as a member of the South West Mobilization Committee. In these capacities, she contributed to reconciling party factions and strengthening grassroots mobilization, particularly across Ogun East.

Her political trajectory includes contesting for the House of Assembly and vice chairmanship positions, as well as flying the flag as the first female House of Assembly candidate in Odogbolu Local Government in 2015. She also contested the 2023 House of Representatives seat for Ijebu Ode/Odogbolu/Ijebu North East Federal Constituency under the APC.

Observers note that her decision to avoid post-election litigation, even in contentious situations, has reinforced her image as a disciplined party loyalist committed to unity and stability.

**Track Record of Social Impact**

Beyond politics, Adesola-Tijani is the founder of the Mojisola Foundation, established in 2014, through which she has implemented several community-focused initiatives.

Her interventions include facilitating employment opportunities for over 50 individuals, supporting small businesses and artisans, distributing relief materials during the COVID-19 pandemic, and funding borehole projects to improve access to clean water. She has also contributed to the renovation of primary healthcare centres and sustained welfare programmes, particularly during Ramadan.

These initiatives have earned her recognition as a community-oriented leader with a strong connection to grassroots constituents.

**Governance Experience**

Adesola-Tijani’s public service credentials were further strengthened during her tenure as a board member of the Ogun State Health Management Board between 2020 and 2023, under the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

During this period, she participated in statewide inspections of health facilities, advocated for improved service delivery, and supported infrastructure upgrades across rural and urban communities. She was also actively involved in efforts to support the state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Analysts say this experience provides her with practical insights into governance, policy implementation, and crisis management.

**Bridge Builder and Stabilizing Force**

Known for her conciliatory approach to politics, Adesola-Tijani has maintained a record largely free of factional disputes. Her intervention during the EndSARS protests in parts of Ijebu, where she engaged youth groups to help de-escalate tensions, has been cited as an example of her conflict management ability.

Political observers describe her as a stabilizing figure capable of fostering unity within party structures.

**Strategic Value for 2027**

With Ogun East expected to play a decisive role in the 2027 elections, analysts believe that selecting a running mate with strong roots in the region could prove pivotal.

Adesola-Tijani’s profile as a Muslim woman with established grassroots networks across Ijebu Ode, Odogbolu, and Ijebu North East is seen as offering multiple strategic advantages. These include enhancing gender inclusion, strengthening ties with key demographic groups, and consolidating support within the Ijebu axis.

Her influence among market leaders, traditional institutions, and religious communities is also considered a potential asset in voter mobilization.

**Looking Ahead**

As consultations continue within the APC, party leaders are expected to prioritize candidates who combine electoral value with governance competence.

For many observers, Hon. Mojisola Ayodele Fatimo Adesola-Tijani represents a blend of experience, loyalty, and grassroots appeal that could complement a governorship ticket and strengthen the party’s chances in 2027.

Whether she ultimately emerges as the party’s deputy governorship candidate remains to be seen, but her growing visibility in political discussions underscores her relevance in Ogun State’s evolving political landscape.
