In an effort to boost local security and socio-economic activities, more communities under the Oluyole State Constituency have been illuminated following the latest batch of the “Light Up Constituency Project” sponsored by Hon. Waheed Akintayo, Lawmaker representing Oluyole state Constituency in the Oyo state house of assembly.

The latest communities which included Boluwaji, Akinfenwa, Atagba and environs were handed over 10 solar powered street lights while Ifelodun got five, making it forty five (45) Solar Lights the lawmaker has distributed within the space of two weeks.

The lawmaker, popularly known as “Ilumoka Presenter” due to his distinguished background in broadcasting, has continued his aggressive rollout of solar-powered street lights, reinforcing his reputation as a grassroots representative committed to the safety of his people.

At a brief ceremony held to engage the constituents and distribute the new batch of solar lights, community leaders and some of their representatives commended the lawmaker, whom many described as a “proud son of Oluyole.”

“Hon. Akintayo understands that a dark street is an invitation to insecurity. By bringing these solar lights, he is not just giving us illumination; he is giving us peace of mind.”

The ongoing distribution is specifically targeting high-traffic areas, including local markets, To extend trading hours and boost the local economy; School Premises and Vulnerable Junctions known for hotspots for petty crime and darkness-related accidents.

Addressing the constituents, Hon. Akintayo emphasized that his primary duty remains lawmaking, but his personal passion for the development of Oluyole drives him to go the “extra mile.”

He said the solar project is just one pillar of his broader developmental agenda, noting that he has earlier offered financial empowerment, support education with renovation of dilapidated classrooms and provision of free transportation for pupils as well as making effort to boost security Infrastructure in the Constituency with the ongoing construction of a modern Police Station at the Muslim axis of the constituency.

Hon. Akintayo, who serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Media, and ICT, reiterated his commitment to the “Omituntun 2.0” agenda of Governor Seyi Makinde.

“Oluyole is big, and we have 10 wards to cover,” Akintayo stated.

“We are moving from one community to another to ensure no one is left in the dark. As a proud son of this soil, I owe it to my people to bring the dividends of democracy directly to their doorsteps.”
