In continuation of his consultation meetings with critical stakeholders and elders of the People’s Democratic Party in Oyo Central Senatorial District, the Oyo Central Senatorial hopeful and the Commissioner for Agricultural and Rural Development, Barrister Olaleye Olasunkanmi met with leaders, elders and stakeholders of the Party across the eleven local government areas of the senatorial district at the Ikolaba home of Elder Wole Oyelese.

While welcoming him and his team to the meeting, Elder Wole Oyelese said the party is not in the opposition in Oyo State even though, it does not have senators in the Senate. He said the party has a long way to go, which is why he is admonishing Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye not to become inaccessible to the very people whose support he is seeking when he finally gets what he’s looking for.

He urged him to treat the reward of ordinary party members as non-negotiable and sacrosanct, as the era of the zero-reward system is over.

Hon. Mufutau Ogunremi, the State Financial Secretary of the Party, reiterated his earlier position at a meeting last week, describing Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye as a complete gentleman whose office is accessible to party members and also someone who stands by the Party.

He said the roles played by Barrister Olaleye in securing the Oyo Central Senatorial District office and also making it habitable are not in small measure.

Alhaji Ademola Mukaila from Oluyole local government said becoming a senator is not a small task and it requires a planned and sustained process over time. He said that, as someone who has been a commissioner in five different ministries, he urged him to use his wealth of experience in navigating the Senate to facilitate development in the Oyo Central Senatorial District.

The State Organising Secretary of the Party, Alhaja Wulemotu Ibitoye reiterated Elder Oyelese’ s earlier statement that the reward of the party members should not be paid with lip-service as people who work deserve to reap the fruits of their struggles while also vouching for his unhindered accessibility to the people.

Alhaji Kolawole Ibrahim from Egbeda Local Government charged the nomadic public servant to list his achievements across the eleven local government seeing how he has worked in almost all the critical ministries in the Seyi Makinde-led administration.

Hon. Oladejo Success from Lagelu Local Government said his encounter with Barrister Olaleye during the last election where he proved himself as a leader of great repute and his integrity is not in question as someone who won’t fail his people.

He also stressed the need for the required machinery as running for the Oyo Central senatorial District election is not different from running for the State governorship elections.

While responding to questions, Olaleye listed the number of projects he has carried out across the 11 local government areas in Oyo Central Senatorial District which included: facilitation of construction of RAAMP road project, Adebayo Aláta – Olokooyo in Oluyole Local Government, Ijaiye-Ido 32km in Akinyele Local Government, Agrologistics Centre/ Market in Onaara Local Government, facilitation of construction of Olorunda- Akobo in Lagelu Local Government, facilitation of construction of roads in Egbeda Local Government and others.

Others included facilitation of training of youths in tractor mechanisation and operations, distribution of farm inputs to farmers across the State and amongst others.

He assured the stakeholders that he’s better equipped with the required machinery to run for the election without hiccups and he will also ensure party members are adequately compensated.

Rounding the meeting up, the Co-chairman of the Oyo State Elders’ Council Elder Wole Oyelese commended Barrister Olaleye Olasunkanmi for being an upstanding party stakeholder and the feedback he received from people when he intimated them about today’s meeting was positive.

While giving the vote of thanks, the Executive Chairman of Surulere Local Government, Hon. Adegbite Isaiah Alaba appreciated the stakeholders and leaders present at the meeting for their warm reception.

He assured them that party members will not be neglected and their welfare will always remain germane if Barrister Olaleye is given the party’s mandate to serve.

Amongst the stakeholders present at the meeting were Mr Kehinde Fabunmi JP, Hon. I. M Bakare, Hon. Oladejo, Alhaji Kola Ibrahim, Mr Olusola Shofowora, Hon. Kehinde Salawu, Chief Akin Aderibigbe, Evangelist Sunday Ayobami, Alhaji Gazali Rauf, Chief Adurodekun Waheed, Engr Julius Akinsola Alfa Kehinde Adeyemo and others.
