The Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon Akinwole Akinleye has officially announced the passing of Hon. Chief Akinlabi Ezekiel Adewale, fondly known as “O gba fun o,” describing his death as a monumental loss to the entire local government and Oyo State at large.

The late elder statesman was widely revered for his unwavering dedication to public service, grassroots development, and party loyalty, leaving behind a legacy that will not be forgotten in a hurry.
Hon. Chief Akinlabi Adewale was a founding pillar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, particularly in Akinyele Local Government, where he played a crucial role in shaping the party’s structure and strengthening its grassroots appeal.

His political journey saw him serve as a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly between 1992 and 1993, where he distinguished himself as a voice for his people and a champion of democratic values.


Beyond politics, late Hon Adewale was a respected community leader from Ajibode and a devoted Church Elder at the Anglican Church, Ajibode. His life was marked by humility, service, and a deep commitment to both his faith and community.
According to the Executive Chairman, Akinyele Local Government has lost one of its foremost leaders of repute, a true son of the soil whose wisdom, leadership, and counsel will be sorely missed across generations.
Hon. Chief Akinlabi Ezekiel Adewale passed on at the age of 82, leaving behind his loving wife, accomplished children, and a legacy of integrity and service.

In honor of his remarkable life and contributions, the Executive Chairman has declared a three-day mourning period across Akinyele Local Government, calling on residents to reflect on and celebrate the enduring impact of a man who gave his all to the growth and unity of his people.
