The Leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan NorthWest Local Government have reaffirmed their commitment to party unity, electoral victory, and loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde ahead of all elections.

The resolution was reached during a well-attended consultative meeting held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Ibadan NorthWest Council Secretariat in Onireke, Ibadan. The gathering drew party stalwarts, stakeholders, women, youth, grassroots mobilizers among others.
At the heart of the deliberations was a firm insistence on honoring an existing and signed agreement regarding the Ibadan NorthWest/SouthWest Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives. Party stakeholders emphasized that, based on a 2023 agreement between both local governments, the position should rotate to Ibadan NorthWest in 2027 following two terms held by representatives from Ibadan SouthWest.

Describing the agreement as a matter of equity, fairness, and justice, speakers noted that while both local governments are politically capable, it would be unjust for Ibadan NorthWest to be sidelined after years of representation dominated by Ibadan SouthWest—first under the opposition for eight years and now under the ruling PDP for another eight.

“The agreement is clear, and agreement must be honoured,” several speakers echoed during the meeting, as attendees repeatedly chanted “Ibadan NorthWest Lokan” to signal their demand for representation.
The party faithful also expressed strong confidence in the PDP’s chances in upcoming elections, pledging total support to the party’s candidates in both the 2026 local government polls and the 2027 general elections. They reiterated their unwavering loyalty to Governor Makinde as the leader of the party in the state.
Stakeholders collectively appealed to the governor and party leadership to consider a credible candidate from Ibadan NorthWest when selecting the PDP flagbearer for the federal constituency seat.
Prominent figures present at the meeting included Oyo State PDP Vice Chairman, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke; former PDP Local Government Chairman and Ex-officio member, Alhaji Lukman Adesina; and Member of the Governor’s Advisory Council, Dr. Remi Ayodele, Executive Chairman of Ibadan NorthWest Local Government, Alhaji Rahman Adepoju; Political Head/Administrator, Hon. Ganiy Omotosho. Others in attendance were the Local Government Secretary and Assistant Secretary; Hon Sarah Sobowale & Hon Bolanle Olaniyi, Hon Olufemi Josiah and key leaders.
The Leader of Ibadan NorthWest Legislative House, Hon. Oluwagbemileke Gbadamosi led the councillors and with others such as supervisory councillors, special assistants, and aspirants for various elective offices, including Dr. Akin Stephen Fagbemi, an aspirant for the House of Representatives and current Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Hospital Management Board.
The meeting was coordinated by the PDP Chairman in Ibadan NorthWest Local Government, Hon. Kazeem Fantola, alongside members of the local executive committee.

The gathering concluded with a unified stance on party cohesion and strategic positioning as preparations intensify for the forthcoming electoral cycles.
