Security enhancement and grassroots development took the spotlight in Lagelu Local Government as the Honourable Member representing Lagelu State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olajide Akintunde (AKT), officially commissioned a newly constructed Amotekun Station at the Seven-Up/Monatan axis.

The well-attended commissioning ceremony attracted an impressive array of dignitaries, including political leaders, traditional rulers, religious stakeholders, and party faithful from across Oyo State, all of whom gathered to celebrate what has been widely described as a strategic intervention in strengthening community security.

In his address, the Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, commended Hon. Akintunde for his outstanding legislative representation, noting that many developmental strides recorded within the local government are closely tied to AKT’s proactive engagement at the state assembly.

He emphasized that the lawmaker’s consistent delivery of people-oriented projects has earned him the trust and admiration of the people, adding that calls for his continued representation remain justified in light of his performance.

Community representatives also lauded the initiative, describing the Amotekun Station as a timely response to pressing security concerns within the Monatan axis. They noted that the facility would significantly improve surveillance, rapid response, and overall safety in the area.

In a strong show of traditional endorsement, the Elejioku of Ejioku, Oba Bashiru Adeshina, praised Hon. Akintunde’s commitment to grassroots development and people-centred governance. The monarch urged party leaders to sustain their support for the lawmaker, citing his visible impact across communities.

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagelu also used the occasion to applaud AKT’s developmental strides. Chief Babatunde Tijani, former commissioner Oribayo Okeyode, and Pa Kehinde Fabunmi commended the lawmaker for delivering projects that have not only improved the welfare of constituents but also strengthened the party’s grassroots appeal ahead of future electoral contests.

They further reassured party members of unity and stability within the fold, expressing confidence that ongoing internal challenges would ultimately resolve in favour of collective progress.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Olajide Akintunde (AKT) expressed gratitude to stakeholders and residents for their continued support. He disclosed that the construction of the Amotekun Station was a direct response to appeals from community leaders over security challenges in the area.

In his goodwill message, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Edward Ogundoyin, described Hon. Akintunde as a dedicated and effective legislator whose contributions within the Assembly remain commendable. He aligned with the sentiments of stakeholders who acknowledged the lawmaker’s performance and growing influence.

The commissioning of the Amotekun Station stands as a significant milestone in Lagelu’s pursuit of enhanced security and sustainable development, further reinforcing Hon. Olajide Akintunde’s reputation as a responsive and results-driven representative.
