The Honourable Member representing Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency, Rep. Abass A. Adigun (Agboworin), has congratulated Muslims on the commencement of the annual fasting period.
In a statement issued to mark the new month of fasting, which was issued to journalists by his Media Group in Ibadan, Agboworin described Ramadan as a sacred period devoted to spiritual renewal, self-discipline, prayers and acts of charity, noting that it offers a unique opportunity for Muslims to strengthen their faith and deepen their commitment to peaceful coexistence.
He urged the Muslim Ummah to reflect on the virtues of sacrifice, compassion and humility that the holy month represents, while also using the period to pray for peace, unity and sustainable development in Nigeria.
“Ramadan is a season that reminds us of the values of patience, love and service to humanity. As Muslims observe the fast, I encourage them to pray fervently for our nation and to extend kindness to the less privileged in our society,” he said.
The lawmaker further called on religious and community leaders to continue to promote harmony and tolerance, stressing that the teachings of Ramadan underscore the importance of unity among people of different faiths and backgrounds.
Agboworin wished Muslims a peaceful, blessed and fruitful Ramadan, praying that Allah grants them strength, wisdom and good health throughout the fasting period and accepts their prayers and sacrifices.
