*2024 Council Poll: Massive Turnout As Oluokun/Waspha Flag-off Campaign In Oyo East Local Government*

The Chairmanship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the forthcoming local government election, Hon. Oluokun Olusola Peter, and his vice Wasiu Mustapha Waspha, launched their ward campaigns today, March 5, 2024, which comprise Ward 02 and Ward 04 respectively at Tengba Oyo.

The Campaign DG, Alhaji Rasheed Agba, in his address, urged voters and PDP faithful to come out in large numbers on election day and vote massively for the PDP.

He further appealed that in unity, nothing is hard to achieve, encouraged them to be their brother’s keepers, and stated that, by God’s grace, all party candidates will emerge victorious at the coming poll.

He then called the party chairman and handed over the executive Chairman of Oyo East’s donation to the PDP Party Chairman, Hon. Sakiru Ojo, noting that the council chairman had earlier stated that the money was meant for each ward, with 50,000 allocated to each ward, and not for the campaign committee.

In his response upon receiving the donation, the PDP Party Chairman, Hon. Sakiru Ojo, lauded the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde, for the dividends of democracy being enjoyed across the pacesetter State, which earned him the recognition as the Best Governor in Nigeria today, by the leadership newspaper based in Abuja.

He called on all voters and PDP members to ensure that the party won both Chairmanship and Councilorship seats across all the 10 wards in the Mother of Them All Council.

Equally, Hon. Maruf Akinwande, a party stakeholder and former federal lawmaker representing Oyo federal Constituency, expressed appreciation and lauded the campaign team for choosing Ward 02 (being the Ward of the Distinguished Senator Monsurat Sunmon) to kickstart the campaign train of the party.

“Sola Oluokun remains the best candidate for the Oyo East Council area.

He’ll replicate the good name of his father, Emmanuel Oladosu Oluokun, he knows where the shoe pinches, puts smiles on the faces of grassroots people, and transforms the council to a sustainable standard.”

He further appealed to the party members to vote massively to bring success to the party at both local and state levels.

The party flag bearer for the Chairmanship and Councilorship candidates for wards 02 and 04 was handed over by the PDP Party Chairman in Oyo East, Hon. Sakiru Ojo.

Present at the campaign rally were Hon. KK, representing the Distinguished Senator Monsurat and Egbeda PDP party chairman, State Executives, the duo of House of Assembly Members in Oyo East and West, Hon. Olorunpoto and Hon. Gbenga Oyekola representing Atiba State Constituency.

Others present were Hon. Nureni Alade from Oyo West and his entourage, Hon. Olaide Badmus, Atiba vice Chairmanship candidate and his entourage, representatives of the party from the state level, the PDP party stakeholders, leaders, and faithful party members.”
