The proscribed National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Oyo State has dissociated itself from the purported directive to its members to converge at the Liberty stadium, Ibadan to participate in the gubernatorial declaration being planned by the owners of a private radio station, Agidigbo FM, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat tomorrow.

Alhaji Abideen Olajide Ejiogbe the erstwhile chairman of the union made the position of the union known while reacting to the directive made by one Tirimisiyu Elegbeda who claimed to be a member of the union directing that they should come out enmass to participate in the purpoted declaration of Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat while speaking on the Agidigbo radio station last night.
According to Alhaji Abideen Olajide Ejiogbe, “it has come to our notice that one Tirimisiyu Elegbeda who paraded himself as a member of the NURTW gave directive to our members to converge at the Liberty stadium, Ibadan tomorrow while speaking on the Agidigbo FM tonight.

We want to say it categorically that there is nobody bearing such a name in our union and he has no affiliation with those of us who are legitimate members of the union in any way.

We want the whole world to know that the NURTW under my leadership as the duly recognized union dissociate ourselves from the directive made by the said Tirimisiyu Elegbeda and the channel he used to make the directive.
The purported announcement is the handwork of our detractors who are hellbent in pitching us against the government of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Abiodun Makinde with the sole aim of frustrating the overture we are making to the Governor to re-instate our union following the judgment delivered by both the Industrial Court and the Court of Appeal in our favour.
The legitimate NURTW in Oyo State today under my watch is apolitical, peace loving and cannot be involved in any action or gathering that is capable of causing unrest in the state.

We are fully in support of Governor Seyi Makinde led administration and that is why we are appealing to his Excellency to look into our case by lifting the ban placed on our union.
We call on our members and all the good people in the state to know that the NURTW under me has nothing to do with the announcement made by the said Tirimisiyu Elegbeda on the Agidigbo FM radio station. They should remain calm and keep on supporting the Engr Seyi Makinde-led administration.” Alhaji Abideen Olajide Ejiogbe concluded.
