The political landscape of Ibadan North has been thrown into serious debate following the official resignation of Honorable Olalekan Adeleke Atilola from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Oyo State chapter.

Reacting to the development, Honorable Abayomi Oni, a prominent political figure and stakeholder, has publicly declared his unwavering support for Honorable Olalekan Adeleke Atilola, describing his resignation as a painful but revealing loss for the party.

In a strong statement released to the media, Honorable Abayomi Oni stated that the exit of Honorable Olalekan Adeleke Atilola clearly shows that the Ibadan North arm of the People’s Democratic Party has lost the best man for the job.

“Honorable Olalekan Adeleke Atilola is a leader of rare character, vision, and grassroots strength. His commitment to service, fairness, and effective representation is unquestionable. Without exaggeration, Ibadan North People’s Democratic Party has lost its most credible and capable candidate,” Honorable Abayomi Oni said.

Honorable Abayomi Oni noted that Honorable Olalekan Adeleke Atilola’s decision to resign from the Oyo State People’s Democratic Party was not taken lightly, but rather followed deep reflection, consultations, and genuine concern for the future of purposeful leadership and good governance.

According to him, the resignation highlights longstanding structural and internal challenges within the party that have continued to sideline loyalty, sacrifice, and competence at the grassroots level.

“When sincere leaders who have invested their time, energy, and resources are consistently ignored, such decisions become inevitable. Honorable Olalekan Adeleke Atilola remains a force in politics, and his relevance goes beyond party boundaries,” Honorable Abayomi Oni added.

Beyond expressing solidarity with Honorable Olalekan Adeleke Atilola, Honorable Abayomi Oni also used the opportunity to clearly state his political position moving forward. He reaffirmed his belief in people-focused governance and openly declared his support for Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke of Osun State.

“I wish to clearly state that I will be supporting Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke and his administration, particularly in Ipetumodu, Osun State, as he continues to deliver democratic dividends, inclusive leadership, and visible development to the people,” Honorable Abayomi Oni declared.

Honorable Abayomi Oni emphasized that politics must always be centered on service, integrity, and the collective interest of the people, rather than personal ambition or party politics alone.

He concluded by wishing Honorable Olalekan Adeleke Atilola success in his future political journey, expressing strong confidence that his leadership qualities will continue to positively impact society and inspire a new direction in Ibadan North politics.
