The Yoruba Youth Council has announced Saturday, January 10, 2026, as the date for its 2026 Yoruba Youths General Congress, scheduled to take place at the iconic Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resort, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The disclosure was made under the leadership of the Council’s President, Aare Alawode Rahmon Akintunde, in furtherance of the organisation’s renewed drive for youth mobilisation, cultural renaissance, and sustainable development advocacy across Yorubaland and the diaspora.
In a statement issued and signed by the Council’s Publicity Secretary, Ogbeni Kabir Ajibode, the forthcoming congress is described as a landmark convergence of indigenous youth leaders, affiliate bodies, elders, and strategic partners of the Council.
According to the statement, major highlights of the 2026 General Congress will include the official unveiling of the Council’s website, constitution, and monthly news journal, signalling a new era of institutional strengthening, transparency, and digital engagement.
The congress is expected to attract eminent stakeholders who continue to shape the vision and direction of the Council. The revered Yeye Erelu Elderman Ajiun Tunwase will grace the occasion as Special Guest, while the Okanlomo Oodua, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, is slated to serve as Chief Host of the historic gathering.
Beyond the congress announcement, the Council also extended warm wishes to Yoruba children as schools reopen across the region, urging students to remain disciplined, focused, and excellence-driven. Parents and guardians were equally encouraged to continue prioritising education as a vital pillar for sustainable development and cultural continuity.
The Council reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to grooming responsible, enlightened, and culturally rooted Yoruba youths capable of positively shaping the future of society.
