Former House of Representatives member and Chairman of the Oyo @ 50 Planning Committee, Honourable Saheed Akinade Fijabi, was on Wednesday walked out of the ongoing Youth Summit organised by the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Fijabi was reportedly asked to leave the venue by organisers and participants of the summit after his presence sparked discontent among party youths, who cited his recent public remarks as being inconsistent with the objectives of the gathering, which centred on unity, loyalty, and party rebuilding.

The former lawmaker had, during the kick-off and logo launch of the Oyo @ 50 celebrations, openly stated his willingness to defect from the APC to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The statement, which circulated widely within party circles, was said to have angered many APC members, particularly youths.

Sources at the summit disclosed that the party’s youth wing viewed the comment as an act of betrayal at a time when the APC is making concerted efforts to heal internal divisions and mobilise members ahead of future elections.

Although the incident did not disrupt the programme, it generated widespread reactions among attendees, with many youths insisting that party platforms and engagements should be reserved for individuals fully committed to the APC project in Oyo State.
