Hon (Dr.) Temitope Oladimeji (OTOPE), a leading PDP chieftain from Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, has lauded Governor Seyi Makinde for his exemplary leadership in hosting the 2025 PDP National Convention in Ibadan, describing it as a landmark event that showcased the party’s unity, organisational strength, and strategic direction ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a show of grassroots strength and political mobilisation, Dr. OTOPE personally led his supporters to the convention, contributing to the massive turnout that underscored the PDP’s growing influence across Oyo State and the Southwest region. He described this mobilisation as a strong signal that the party is deeply rooted in communities and ready to consolidate its base nationwide.
Dr. OTOPE also congratulated Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja on his election as National Secretary, noting that Arapaja’s leadership would be critical in guiding the party’s administrative and strategic agenda. He emphasized that the new National Executive is poised to strengthen internal cohesion, enforce discipline, and ensure the PDP remains a viable alternative to the ruling party.

Speaking on the broader political implications, Dr. OTOPE asserted that the convention was more than a ceremonial gathering; it was a strategic declaration that the PDP is not content with remaining the opposition. “The party is preparing systematically to take over governance in 2027,” he said, stressing that strong leadership, grassroots mobilisation, and unity will be central to achieving that goal.

According to Dr. OTOPE, the convention demonstrated that the PDP is steadily reasserting itself as a party capable of delivering visionary leadership, stability, and transformative policies. He called on party members at all levels to sustain the momentum, remain focused, and work collaboratively toward the party’s national ambitions.
