In a move to bolster security in Ibadan South West Local Government, Honourable Kehinde Akande, the Executive Chairman, has underscored the importance of community involvement in crime prevention. During a courtesy visit by the State Commandant of NSCDC to the Zonal headquarters of Ibadan South West NSCDC, Akande called on stakeholders to support community-driven crime prevention initiatives, emphasizing that collective efforts are key to creating a safer environment.

According to Akande, community-driven initiatives can play a vital role in reducing crime rates in the area. This approach involves collaboration between local communities, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders to identify and address security challenges.
By working together, they can develop effective strategies to prevent crimes and promote social cohesion.

State Commandant A. CC Victoria, speaking at the event, urged officers and stakeholders to take necessary actions to curb crime, emphasizing that their efforts would significantly contribute to reducing and preventing criminal activities in the community.
The host, Area Commandant of Ibadan South West NSCDC, CC Augustine N. Pandonu, pledged to ensure maximum collaboration and effort, while expressing gratitude to all stakeholders for their valuable contributions.


The occasion was graced by the presence of esteemed guests and stakeholders, including Oloye Nureni Akanbi, Hon. Fijabi Saheed, Mr. Oshin of the Southwest NSCDC, Alhaja Adenike Sakirat, a distinguished member of the House of Local Government Chairmen (HLGA), and notable dignitaries such as DAGs Olatoyosi Amudat and Hamsat Titilayo, whose presence underscored the significance of the event.
Honourable Akande’s call for community involvement in crime prevention is in line with existing research, which suggests that community-based crime prevention practices can be effective in reducing crime rates. The Ibadan South West Local Government Area has already demonstrated its commitment to inclusive governance and community-driven initiatives.
