𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐥𝐮𝐲𝐚𝐡 𝐥𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐏𝐃𝐏 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐰𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 – 𝐀𝐠𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐨

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State and 2027 governorship aspirant, Hon. Samuel Adejumobi, popularly known as Agbarapo, has clarified that former Senate Deputy Chief Whip, Senator Hosea Agboola (Alleluyah), had long left the PDP before the 2023 general elections.

Agbarapo, a former Majority Leader at the Oyo state Assembly, said the party in Oke-Ogun remains strong and united despite the senator’s exit, cautioning politicians from living in past glory to exploit ignorant followers.

Agbarapo, who spoke shortly after receiving a delegation of the management of Comprehensive High School, Irawo, in Atisbo local government area of Oyo State, who presented an official letter of appreciation to Honourable Adejumobi, the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Legislative Matters, for his generous donation of a water pumping machine to the institution.

In a letter signed on behalf of the principal and vice-principals, the school described the gesture as timely and deeply impactful, noting that it would go a long way in easing the school’s perennial water challenges.

The letter, obtained by westernmirror.com.ng on Tuesday, praised Agbarapo for his consistent show of compassion and commitment to grassroots community development. It added that his act of goodwill had not only inspired hope among the staff and students but also strengthened the bond between education stakeholders and public leaders working to improve the quality of learning environments across Oyo State.

Agbarapo, who confirmed the recognition and appreciation by the school management to westernmirror.com.ng in a phone conversation, also explained that contrary to insinuations that senator Agboola still wields political influence within the PDP structure in Oyo North, the facts show otherwise.

He described Agboola’s defection as inconsequential to the party’s electoral strength, noting that the PDP in Oke-Ogun has since rebuilt itself around loyal and credible stakeholders.

“Let’s be honest about history, Senator Agboola left the PDP before the last general elections because his group clearly worked for the APC candidate. He wasn’t part of our campaign structure in 2023, nor was he involved in the coordination of our activities in Oke-Ogun.

“So, when people talk about his absence today as if it’s a recent development, they are merely chasing shadows. The truth is, he left long ago and the PDP has since moved on, they only announced it to gain political relevance and score points in the eyes of the public,” Agbarapo declared.

Agbarapo, who himself hails from Irawo in Atisbo local government area of Oke-Ogun, described the region as a bastion of PDP support, owing to what he called the “visible developmental footprints” of Governor Seyi Makinde in the zone.

He listed projects such as the reconstruction of the Iseyin–Fapote–Ogbomoso road, the establishment of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) campus in Iseyin, and improved access to agricultural credit for farmers as evidence of why the party continues to command loyalty in the area.

“Governor Makinde has redefined governance in Oke-Ogun. For the first time, our people feel truly included in the affairs of the state. You can’t take that away from the PDP. The roads, the tertiary institutions, the empowerment programs, all these things speak louder than political drama,” Agbarapo added.

Reaffirming his unflinching loyalty to Governor Makinde, Agbarapo lauded the governor’s visionary leadership and commitment to equitable development across the state. He said the governor’s passion for balanced growth and his deliberate inclusion of Oke-Ogun in major state projects have restored the people’s confidence in government.

“I am proud to stand with Governor Makinde. His leadership has been nothing short of transformative. In Oke-Ogun, what we have witnessed under his administration is unprecedented modern roads linking our towns, new academic institutions, improved health facilities, and genuine empowerment for farmers and youths. The governor has shown that governance can be both compassionate and effective,” he stated.

He also stressed that the strength of a political party should not be measured by the exit of one individual, no matter how influential they once were.

“Politics is about relevance and service. When a party continues to deliver on its promises, it grows stronger regardless of who leaves or who stays,” he said.

Agbarapo dismissed speculation that Agboola’s departure had weakened the PDP’s hold in the Oke-Ogun zone, calling such claims a deliberate attempt by opposition elements to distort facts.

“If you look at the 2023 election results, PDP swept virtually every major seat in Oke-Ogun except places where there were internal sabotage. That didn’t happen by luck; it happened because the people trust the leadership of the party,” he said.

He further hinted that the 2027 political race in Oyo State will not be about old political loyalties but about continuity and competence.

“The people are wiser now. They know who has worked for them and who only shows up during election season. PDP in Oke-Ogun is not just formidable—it’s future-focused,” he concluded.
