The Ibadan North-East Local Government, on Monday, under the chairmanship of Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, has launched a campaign against measles and some other diseases across the wards in the Council.

The Director of Primary Health Care of the Council, Dr Kunle Adedoyin, made this known during a meeting with some representatives of various groups at the Local Government Secretariat Iwo-Road Ibadan.

The five-in-one programme includes Routine Immunization for children of age zero to 23-months, vaccination for Measles Rubella, which is for children of 9 to 14-months, while polio vaccination is for children of age zero to fifty-nine months, and HPV vaccine against cancer is for Girls of 9 to 14 years, while NTDs Vaccination is aimed at combating the Neglected Tropical Diseases like elephantiasis.

Dr Adedoyin added that Teams of Medical Specialists would be going round different areas in the 12-Wards across the Local Government Area to ensure the success of the programme for the benefit of the populace.

In attendance at the meeting were the Supervisory Councillor For Health Ibadan North-East Local Government, Hon Qazeem Adebisi, and Mr Farouq Abdulsalam Oyo State Facilitator of World Health Organization (WHO), as they both urged the residents of the Local Government Area to take advantage of this programme, which is part of the concerted efforts of Oyo State Government and World Health Organization in the provision sound health services.

The representative of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Oloyede Segun and Lawal Akintomiwa, who represented the Proprietors of Private Schools, and other representatives of various groups at the meeting, promised to disseminate the information to people at the grassroot to support the Medical Teams for the success of the ten-days campaign.
