Leaders and stakeholders from Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency on Sunday insisted that the House of Representatives ticket must shift to Akinyele local government in 2027.

The leaders and stakeholders made this position known on Saturday rising from an emergency meeting held at Akobo, Ibadan.
Speaking on behalf of leaders and stakeholders under the umbrella, Akinyele/Lagelu Solidarity Forum (ALSF), the Publicity Secretary, Muniru Oladeji, stressed the need to demonstrate fairness in the polity, adding that Akinyele local government supported Lagelu in 2023 when it was the Council’s turn.

He advised the leadership of ADC, APC, and PDP in Oyo State to ensure power rotation in 2027 to enhance cohesion in the Federal Constituency.

He rejected insinuations from some quarters that one of the leading political parties is planning to return the serving House of Representatives member, Hon Akinmoyede Olafisoye for a second stating that such move will spell doom for any of the parties that try such undemocratic act.
Alhaji Oladeji said that the proponents of power retention in Lagelu are selfish as they cannot claim to be speaking for the entire Federal Constituency.
“The gentleman agreement between Lagelu and Akinyele is that since 1999, we have been rotating the House of Representatives ticket. Therefore, ADC, APC and PDP Must zone the ticket to Akinyele in 2027 for the spirit of equity, fairness and harmony we shared in our Federal Constituency.

” As far as unity is concerned, power shift must become a stabilising principle so that no local government will feel relegated and oppressed politically.
“From 2007 till date, no political party has returned serving federal lawmaker from Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency. 2027 must not be different.”
