The lawmaker representing Ibadan North East/South East federal constituency, Rep. Abass Adigun (Agboworin), has strongly criticized Oyo APC gubernatorial aspirant, Mr Saheed Oladele, over his recent comments suggesting that President Tinubu does not need the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, to win the state in 2027 general elections.

Agboworin, in a statement by his Media Group, which was made available to journalists on Saturday,
described the statement as being reckless, petty and naive, explaining that “Oladele’s claim was nothing but political naivety displayed for public consumption.”

The two-term lawmaker and Chairman of House Committee on Narcotic Drugs, described Oladele as a ‘fresher in Oyo politics’, implying he lacks the experience and depth in political maneuvering.

He explained that Makinde remains not only an indomitable force to reckon with in the state but also an influential figure in the South West Region and Nigerian politics as a whole.
Agboworin noted that even a two-term lawmaker of the opposition party from the state, who represents Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency, Hon. Akin Alabi, had confirmed how powerful the governor is in a viral video, having admitted that the Presidency might need to adopt the pattern of 2023 to win in the state.
Agboworin, while further ridiculing Oladele’s submission, maintained that his approach shows blatant ignorance of the political maneuvering in Oyo State.

Agboworin, however, warned Oladele to desist from making such reckless statement, saying it is only a kindergarten in politics that does not recognize the weight Governor Makinde carries in the state.
Concluding, He noted that the governor has accomplished more than just serving as the governor of Oyo State, but also has the capability to occupy higher office in the country.
