Just In: Nasiru Hazmat emerged PDP Chairman In Oluyole. Congress Electoral Committee, Delegates(PHOTOS)

‎Hon. Nasiru Hazmat from ward 10 has been elected as the new Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oluyole Local Government.

‎This was according to the results announced at the end of the PDP local government congress held at Methodist High School, Orita New Garage, Ibadan on Saturday.

‎The congress, which had 170 ward executive members and thirty delegates participating, was conducted by the state approved 11-man Electoral Committee headed by the Commissioner for Public Works and transport, Hon. Mojeed Mogbonjubola.

Other members of the committee included House of Assembly member, Hon. Waheed Akintayo (Ilumoka); Ldr Hon. Lasun Salami, Dr. Gbola Adetunji; Chairman, Pacesetter Transport, Dr. Ibrahim Dikko Salami; Oluyole Local Government Chairman, Engr. Akeem Adetunji; immediate past LG Chairman, Hon. Settle Olaide.

Others are Olumide Akinlade, SA on Oluyole Federal Constituency and Hon Olusina Ogunsola

The exercise was monitored by the representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Pastor Kehinde Omisile and security agencies.

‎ Addressing journalists shortly after the congress, Hon. Mojeed Mogbonjubola, commended members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oluyole Local Government for the massive turnout and peaceful conduct throughout the exercise.

‎ He also applauded the state executive council of the party headed by its chairman, Hon Dayo Ogungbenro and Secretary, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke for the mandate given to the committee to conduct the local government congress.

‎While announcing Hon. Nasiru Hamzat as the elected Chairman, the committee chairman described the exercise as a peaceful one.

Hon. Mogbonjubola described the emergence of the new party Chairman in the local government as the beginning of the new dawn, emphasizing that his experience as a former Leader of the House in the local government will bring good development to the party.

“About 11 of us, myself, Hon. Lasun Salami, Dr. Gbola Adetunji, Dikko Salami, the Chairman of the council, Engr. Akeem Adetunji, immediate past Chairman, Hon. Settle Olaide, serving honourable member, Hon. Waheed Akintayo and former House of Assembly member, this is a fantastic committee. As of today, out of 11 selected members of the committee, the state secretary, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke called me to give me the letter of engagement on this and he gave the list of these 11 men. We had our first meeting, we had our second meeting, we had the ward congress; today, we are having the local government congress, and it is a wonderful turnout from the good people of our party in Oluyole Local Government. You can see the turnout; you can see the emergence of the new Chairman, the new page of the PDP in Oluyole. Today, we give God the glory; it is a total new birth of the new PDP in Oluyole Local Government.

“It was really a tough one; we have about 17 ward executives and three delegates from each ward so we have 140, both delegates and the ward executives, and we have massive turnout of party members and to God be the glory and with excitement, Hon. Nasiru Hamzat from ward 10 emerged with a much different gap in the votes, it is a new face of PDP in Oluyole Local Government. Hon. Nasiru Hamzat was a former leader of the House in the council.

“I am saying it loud and clear to God be the glory and being the arrowhead of the Electoral Committee that is being appointed, I said it earlier about 11 of us were called to partake in this and we had series of meetings which include the local government Chairman, but today with the glory of God nine of us are here participating in this local government congress this morning and the authentic Chairman of PDP in Oluyole Local Government is actually Hon. Nasiru Hamzat from ward 10“.

Also speaking, a member of the Electoral Committee, Dr. Dikko Salami lauded the exercise and appreciated all members of the party in the local government for making it easy for the committee.

He assured that the new Chairman; Hon. Hamzat will make the party proud.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Hamzat promised to ensure that the Peoples Democratic Party in Oluyole Local Government remains one and united.
