In a move to further improve access to clean and safe water in Ona Ara Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS, has commissioned a solar-powered borehole at Bioku Araba Primary Health Centre, Ajia, Ward 08.


A statement signed by the Chairman’s Press Secretary, Mr. Rahmon Alawode, confirmed that the project was facilitated through the collaborative support of the Oyo State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA).
Representing the Executive Chairman at the commissioning ceremony, the Supervisor for Environment, Hon. Idrees Olopade, praised the commitment of the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, to grassroots development, especially in the area of public health and environmental sustainability. He also lauded Dr. Temitope GLORIOUS for his proactive leadership and urged the residents of Ajia community to utilize the water facility responsibly and judiciously.

Also speaking at the event, Mr. A.M. Adeduntan, representative of Oyo RUWASSA/UNICEF, and Alhaji Olayiwola, Director at Oyo RUWASSA, commended the initiative and reaffirmed the agency’s continued support for rural water development across the state.


In her remarks, community leader and former councillor, Hon. Romoke Ete, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the local and state government authorities for bringing such a vital project to the doorstep of the people of Ajia. She described the solar-powered borehole as a major relief to the water needs of the health centre and the entire community.

Notable dignitaries present at the commissioning included: Hon. Muliaminu Ajani, Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment, Hon. Alao Olalekan, Special Assistant on Health, Alhaji Amadu Olore, PDP Chairman, Ward 08, Mr. Jimoh Sikiru, Acting Director of Environmental Services, Ona Ara Local Government.
The commissioning ceremony marks another milestone in the NEW ERA agenda of Dr. GLORIOUS-led administration, particularly under the pillar of Welfare and Social Services, aimed at improving the living conditions of residents across Ona Ara.
