The lawmaker representing Ibadan North East/South East federal constituency, Rep. Abass Adigun (Agboworin), has commended the Peoples Democratic Party’s National Executive Committee (PDP NEC) and the party’s leadership in the South West for choosing Ibadan, Oyo State, as the venue for its 2025 National Convention, scheduled for November 15 -16, 2025.

The two term lawmaker, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Narcotic Drugs, gave the commendation in a statement signed by his Media Group in Ibadan and made available to journalists.
The event aims to elect new National Working Committee members to steer the party’s affairs ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to Agboworin, the PDP NEC’s decision to hold the convention in Ibadan is seen as a boost to Governor Makinde’s leadership in the South West.

“By choosing Ibadan, the PDP NEC has boosted Governor Makinde’s leadership in the South West, potentially increasing his influence within the party and reshaping its internal dynamics,” the statement said.

He added that Governor Makinde’s influence within the party, with the forthcoming convention, is likely to grow, potentially reshaping the internal dynamics of the party.
This move, which would attract thousands of party faithful, leaders, and stakeholders from across the country, reflects the party’s determination to preserve its electoral mandates and maintain discipline among its members.

The convention is expected to be a significant event in the party’s journey toward reclaiming power in Nigeria, with Governor Makinde’s leadership playing a pivotal role in coordinating logistics and hosting party delegates.
