The Honourable member representing Ibadan Northwest State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Dawood Akanni Olalere (D-Al-Ameen), has joined the good people of Ibadanland and Oyo State at large in mourning the passing of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.

In a heartfelt condolence message, Hon. D-Al-Ameen expressed deep sorrow over the monarch’s passing, describing it as a monumental loss not only to the traditional institution but to the entire city of Ibadan and the state of Oyo.
“This is indeed a solemn moment in our history,” he said. “Kabiyesi Oba Owolabi Olakulehin was a symbol of wisdom, peace, and unity. His reign, though short, ushered in a period of remarkable tranquility and harmony across Ibadanland. His royal presence exuded calmness, and his leadership offered stability and guidance to all.”

Hon. D-Al-Ameen extended his sympathies to the royal family, the Olubadan-in-Council, and the entire Ibadan traditional system. He also commiserated with His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, acknowledging the governor’s steadfast support for the monarchy and traditional institutions during his administration.

He continued: “The peaceful atmosphere that Ibadan enjoyed under the leadership of Oba Olakulehin stands as a testament to his maturity, wisdom, and statesmanship. He will be remembered for his fatherly counsel, his respect for all, and his unwavering commitment to the cultural heritage of our people.”

Dr. D-Al-Ameen concluded by praying for the repose of the late monarch’s soul and for strength and grace for those left behind to carry on the legacy of peace and progress he upheld.
“May Allah grant Kabiyesi eternal rest among the noble ancestors and grant us the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss. Adieu to a great king, a unifier, and a man of peace. Ibadan mourns, but Ibadan also honours.”
