The Executive Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS, has commended an illustrious son of Ona Ara, Mr. Ifedayo Moradeyo Jimcruz, for his impressive performance in a recently concluded international English language contest.
In a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Mr. Rahmon Alawode, Dr. GLORIOUS praised Jimcruz for his courage and brilliance in engaging a British opponent, Mr. Angantyr, in a competitive English language duel which ended 83–79 in favour of the Briton. The contest drew attention after the British participant had reportedly claimed that Nigerian immigrants lacked strong English proficiency.
Dr. Temitope GLORIOUS described Jimcruz’s participation as bold and inspirational, stating: “You have not only made Ona Ara Local Government proud, but you have also lifted the image of Oyo State and Nigeria. Your effort proves that Nigerians are intelligent and articulate.”
In recognition of his effort and in encouragement of academic excellence, the Chairman announced a cash gift of ₦100,000 to Mr. Ifedayo Jimcruz.
Furthermore, Dr. GLORIOUS reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to education, one of the six pillars of his “New Era Agenda.” He disclosed plans to host the best-performing candidates in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) from Ona Ara Local Government in his office. This, he said, is to celebrate excellence and motivate more young people to pursue academic distinction.
