The stage is set for one of the most transformative gatherings of young minds in the history of Oyo State — the Oyo Youth Summit 2025, scheduled for April 29th and 30th. With the theme “Unlocking Youth Potential; Addressing Needs, Fulfilling Dreams,” the summit is a clear reflection of Governor Seyi Makinde’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, development, and leadership inclusion.

This landmark initiative, a brainchild of the Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Sports under the leadership of Honourable Commissioner Adegoke Wasilat, aims to bring together vibrant young people aged 18 to 45 from across the state. It offers a platform to engage, learn, and contribute meaningfully to the social, economic, and political landscape of Oyo State — famously known as the Pacesetter State.

The summit enjoys the full backing of key youth stakeholders in the state. Working alongside Hon. Wasilat are prominent figures such as the Chairman of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Prince Falana Adebowale Adebayo, the Oyo State PDP Youth Leader and Acting Publicity Secretary, Hon. Michael Ogunsina, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Hon. Deji Ola, Senior Special Adviser To the Governor on Student Matters, Hon. Victor Olojede.

Their collaborative spirit underscores the unity of youth leadership in Oyo, ensuring that the summit is not only successful but impactful for all participants.

The summit will kick off on April 29th with an awareness walk and sensitization campaign on drug abuse, targeting key zones across the state. This activity highlights the administration’s proactive stand on youth well-being and social responsibility.

The Summit Proper will hold on April 30th, featuring a powerful panel session with seasoned entrepreneurs, policy makers, and industry experts. Discussions will focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, leadership, civic engagement, and youth development strategies tailored for today’s realities.

In the evening, a Special Dinner and Award Night will celebrate outstanding young individuals who have made significant contributions to the growth and progress of Oyo State.

Notably, the keynote address will be delivered by Dr. (Mrs.) Victoria Onaolapo, Managing Director of BOVAS, a shining example of leadership, resilience, and entrepreneurial excellence.

For every young person in Oyo State, the summit presents a rare opportunity — not just to listen, but to be heard; not just to attend, but to engage; not just to dream, but to act.
Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration has opened doors, championed youth-centric policies, and built platforms. It is now time for the youth to walk boldly through those doors and seize the future.

The Oyo Youth Summit 2025 is more than an event; it is a movement. A call to the next generation to prepare, participate, and pave the way for the sustainable development of Oyo State and beyond.

Indeed, the future belongs to those who are ready — and Oyo Youth are Ready!
