Ibadan – The lawmaker representing Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Abass A. Adigun (Agboworin), on Saturday, empowered over 100 youth and women with equipment in the art of soap making, toilet disinfectant and liquid bleach production.
Agboworin, a two-term lawmaker and Chairman of House Committee on Narcotic Drugs, equally distributed another 150 tricycle wheelchairs, crutches and other walking aids to people living with disabilities in the constituency.
The empowerment programme, carried out in conjunction with the National Directorate of Employment, NDE with Merit-Plus Integrated Services And Global Resources Limited (Consultant), held at the Apex Multipurpose Hall, Yidi-Agodi Gate, Ibadan.
Speaking at the event, the lawmaker noted that he facilitated the programme to improve the living standard of his constituents including the people living with disabilities.
He urged the beneficiaries to use the opportunity of the skill to improve their economic status and to support their family in their various communities, with a view to building a better tomorrow for themselves.
The items distributed to beneficiaries of the programme include Gas cylinders, Table/Cutter (Wooden), cooking equipment (Industrial Burner), stainless Mixer, cosmetic filling machine (AMG Edition), set of aluminum pot and few other items.
Presenting the items to beneficiaries, the wife of the Oyo State Governor, Her Excellency Engr. Mrs Tamunominini Funke Makinde, she urged them to make good use of the items to create wealth for themselves and their various families.
She commended the lawmaker for always prioritizing the needs of his constituents and continue to touch the lives of the people.
“Thank you my brother, Agboworin, for touching the lives of the people. When we did something like this in 2023, people were not as much as this. But today, I can see much people in here. I appreciate him for doing this,” she stated.

Isiaka Fatokun, PDP Chairman Ibadan North-East, PDP local government executives from Ibadan North-East LG and Ibadan South East Local Government, party lovers, party faithful and members.
Others in attendance include Mrs. Steve-Ogundipe Olayinka, Director, NDE Oyo State, Barrister Dare Adekanmbi, Director-General, Oyo State Agency for People Living with Disabilities.
