I remain the leader of Ido Legislative House— Tirimisiyu Abidoye
…describes his purported removal as a comedy show
Following the news of his purported impeachment and the eventual emergence of Omotoso Rafiu as a replacement, Hon. Tirimisiyu Abidoye, who is the authentic leader of the Ido Legislative House, has urged the good people of the local government to jettison the idea of any crisis to that effect.
The development is coming hours after a four councillors had allegedly suspended nine supervisory councillors who are executive members of Ido local government.
According to reports, the four councilors hurriedly sworn in the Deputy leader, Hon. Omotosho Rafiu, as the new House leader while Hon. Akanji Jeleel was selected as the new Deputy leader of the house despite not forming quorum or 2/3 of the majority.
Reacting to the development on Thursday, Hon. Abidoye described his purported impeachment as a charade and like a comedy show of late Olaiya Moses a.k.a Baba sala, declaring that he remains the authentic Speaker of Ido Local Government.
He pointed out that only the Speaker of the House is authorised by law to summon a meeting of the House, adding that nothing has changed in the legislative arm of Ido local government as the status quo still recognizes Hon. Tirimisiyu Abidoye as the authentic leader of the House.
While describing the political crisis in the local government as very unfortunate under the leadership of Sheriff Adeojo, Hon. Abidoye expressed his delight that the whole world is able to see the clear pictures of the five people claiming the impeachment of the leader.
He said: “Kindly ask them if one of them presided over the meeting and who does not have power to vote, only four can vote out of the 5 at the sitting.
“Can four be called a quorum? That is indeed a maccabe dance. Let them know and let them tell their sponsors that they have goofed.
“It will be good to give the genesis of the whole matter, the supervisory councillors who made up the local government decision making body wrote to the house through me that they have passed a vote of no confidence on the chairman and they want me to read it on the floor of the house”, he said.
The Speaker further reiterated that the kangaroo sitting they held was to preempt what they think will happen, adding that “As the speaker of the house, I am informing you that no sitting took place today and whatever they said is non and void.
“Ido is stinking and it will better for the state to act now as delay may be dangerous”, the Speaker said.
Meanwhile, efforts to Speak with the local government chairman, Sheriff Adeojo, however proved abortive at the time of filing this reports.
