The Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon Akinwole Akinleye has visited the site of a devastating inferno that broke out at Oja Agbe Moniya market causing significant damage and displacing families and businesses.

The fire which occurred around 12 midnight reportedly started in a shop and quickly spread, consuming other shops around.

“I am deeply saddened by the impact of this tragedy on our community and I want to assure that we will do everything possible to assist those affected and ensure they receive the necessary support,” he stated.

“I was informed around 1am in the midnight and as a matter of urgency, I reached out to the nearest possible fire fighters which yielded a positive response.

The firefighters came here almost immediately to put the situation under control and avert further spread and damage”, he said.

While assessing the situation of the damage caused by the fire outbreak, Hon Akinwole Akinleye informed the market leaders to make available to the Local Government the necessary information needed to assist the victims.
