A Prominent Market Leader in Oyo State and Nigeria, Princess Afolashade Abeo Nurudeen, has expressed her admiration for Governor Seyi Makinde’s recent move to increase the minimum wage for Oyo State civil servants to N80,000.
In a statement released on Friday, Princess Abeo, who is the CEO/MD of Ur’Image Couture in Oyo State, commended the governor for his decision, calling it a commitment to his responsiveness and commitment to the welfare of the state’s workers.
According to her, she has always known Governor Makinde as a leader who listens to the concerns of the people, and his recent actions reflect this characteristic.
“I have known Governor Makinde to be a listener, a man who understands the struggles of the people, especially the working class. This increase in salary shows his genuine commitment to ensuring that workers in Oyo State are not only motivated but also adequately compensated for their hard work,” she said.
The N80,000 salary hike has been hailed by many as a bold step in addressing the economic challenges faced by civil servants, particularly in light of the rising cost of living across Nigeria.
Princess Abeo, who is well-known for her extensive philanthropic efforts in the state, believes that the governor’s action will have a significant positive impact on the lives of many civil servants, enabling them to meet their basic needs and contribute to the overall growth of the state.
“I have always believed that a government must be people-oriented, and that it is essential to invest in the welfare of civil servants, who are the backbone of public service,” Princess Abeo said.
“Governor Makinde has shown that he is not just a leader in name but one who is actively working to improve the standard of living for all residents of Oyo State. This move to raise the salary of civil servants is just one example of his administration’s focus on uplifting the people.”
She also praised the governor for his transparency and accountability in government, noting that his leadership style has earned him the trust and respect of both the public and private sectors.
“Governor Makinde’s actions speak volumes about his leadership. He has managed to strike a balance between running an efficient government and prioritizing the needs of the people. It’s not just about policy; it’s about action.”
In her closing remarks, Aare’binrin Agbaye Oodua and Oyo Born Princess urged other states to follow Governor Makinde’s example and prioritize the welfare of their workers as a means of fostering growth, stability, and peace within their jurisdictions.
“When workers are happy, the state thrives. I believe Governor Makinde’s move will inspire many other leaders across the country to do more for their people,” she concluded.
