against the country’s economic hardship, Hon. Kehinde Akande, Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government, has urged citizens to adopt non-violent means of expression.
In a meeting held yesterday with CDC and Community leaders, Akande acknowledged the widespread dissatisfaction among Nigerians, citing the harsh economic conditions and the need for collective action. However, he emphasized the importance of peaceful protests, urging demonstrators to avoid destructive behavior.
“The current economic situation in our country is undoubtedly challenging, and it’s understandable that citizens want to express their frustration. Nevertheless, I strongly advise against resorting to violence or destructive actions,” Akande said.
He encouraged protesters to engage in constructive dialogue with relevant authorities, advocating for meaningful reforms and solutions to the nation’s problems. Akande also assured that the Ibadan South West Local Government administration is committed to supporting citizens’ rights to peaceful assembly and free speech.
