The founder of Akande Tunde Movement – ATM; Rotarian Akande Kazeem Babatunde, an educationist, charter/past president of Rotary Club of Ibadan-Challenge and philanthropist has facilitated an humanitarian project targeted at pregnant women and mothers.
The project is part of the seven areas of focus of Rotary was carried out today at Gbekuba Maternal and Child Health Facility, Ido Local Government.
The project entailed distributions of care items to pregnant women and materials to the health centre to ensure that the health of mothers and child are protected before, during, and after birth. Items donated include birth kits, sanitary kits, and other mother/baby care items.
An important highlight of the event was a brief lecture delivered by renowned health practitioners to admonish both mothers and caregivers on proper etiquette and practices to ensure mothers and babies are safe during care process of pregnant women.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Akande noted that maternal and child health education is another area he’s willing to concentrate on in his philanthropic activities.
He noted that this is important to ensure that mortality rate during childbirth is generally reduced.
Partnering with the Akande Tunde Movement on this project were Rotary Club of Ibadan-Challenge, Rotaract Club of Lead City Ibadan, Kunle Awotiku Foundation, Michael Oluwamayowa Babatunde Foundation and Anike Clothings
Also speaking at the event was the President of Rotary Club of Challenge; Oladoye Bamidele Ahmed who lauded the partners and promised further support to pregnant mothers, caregivers, and the health centre.
Akande in his concluding remarks noted that his commitment to maternal health will increase as he looks forward to joining more organizations to give relief and care materials to pregnant women.
