The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to enforcing the ban on unregulated commercial bus operations, such as Danfos and Koropes, along the Lekki-Epe corridor, starting from October 1, 2024.
The Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Transportation, Sola Giwa, confirmed that the ban is part of the Lagos State Strategic Transportation Master Plan (STMP) to regulate and integrate the informal transport sector into the State’s Bus Reform Initiative.
Giwa warned that operators who fail to comply will face fines and vehicle forfeiture, emphasizing that the state government will not tolerate disregard for the existing Transport Sector Reform Law.
A stakeholders’ meeting was held to sensitize bus operators and union leaders on the need for compliance, with the goal of achieving a successful and orderly transportation system in the state.
