The Nigeria President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Saturday, stormed the Eko Hotels in Lagos state to attend the 85th birthday anniversary of former governor of Ogun state, Chief Segun Osoba.
Tinubu, who was represented by the Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, was equally joined by Nigeria former presidents and head of states, Abubakar Salam, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; Deputy Senate President, Jubril Barawu; Former Speaker and Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, SGF, Senator George Akume, Deputy Speaker, Ben Orji Kalu; as well as Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, who was represented by his Deputy, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal.
Other Governors at the event included Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo state, Babajide Sanwoolu of Lagos state ably represented by his Deputy, Babatunde Hamzat.
Former Governors Raji Fashola; Kayode Fayemi, Adeniyi Adebayo; former secretary common wealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku; former governor of Plateua state, Jonah Jang; Adamu Muazu; coordinating minister and minister of finance to president Tinubu, Wale Edun; minister of marine, Gboyega Oyetola; Erelu Abiola Dosunmu; Fomer Deputy Governor, Gbenga Ashiru Kaka and Oba Otudeko were among those present.

Speaking at the event, President Bola Tinubu who congratulated Osoba at 85, encouraged other politicians to also follow in his footsteps in documenting their life story.
He urged Nigerians to keep supporting his administration to improve local production for the country to be able to produce what to eat.
The president wished Baba Osoba many more fruitful years in good health and wealth.
On his part, the senate president, Godswill Akapabio, who was flanked alongside about thirty one (31) senators, noted that Osoba has remained a great father and friend and that Nigeria is proud of him.
He added that the senate had attended the event to show him love and respect, commending him for standing by President Tinubu and also embracing him even before becoming president.
According to Akpabio, Asiwaju Tinubu becoming president of Nigeria is an indication that there’s hope and the hope will not be betrayed.
The senate president however urged Nigerians to support the renewed Hope agenda of president Tinubu irrespective of tribes or religions praying that God spare the lives of Chief Osoba for many more years.
In his welcome address, the Governor of Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun who doubles as the chief host of the occasion, described Osoba as an untiring figure, who is a father, mentor and leader to him.
He stated that Osoba’s contributions to journalism especially during the military regime can not be overemphasized describing him as an accomplished journalist who started journalism about 60 years ago.
Abiodun equally lauded the leadership quality and administrative acumen of Chief Osoba especially while as Governor of Ogun state, pointing out that his enormous and invaluable contributions has brought significant development to the state and he remained a reference point for emulation.
The event which also featured a book launch titled, “Segun Osoba: My Life In The Public Eye”, had Mr. Lanre Idowu as one of the contributors of the book review.
Idoowu, who described Osoba as a renowned journalist with Daily Times newspaper of Nigeria, noted that the book was drawn from contributions of previous officers such as general Babaginda; General Abdul Salam among others.
He said chief Osoba is a strong will editor at 85, lauding him for being a cooperative client as they have been able to publish two books in the last seven years.
In their separate goodwill messages, Mallam Aliko Dangote, Mike Adenuga junior, Oba Otudeko, Babajide Fashola; Senator Akume, among others described Osoba as a man of integrity who is very transparent.
They equally wished the former Governor a happy birthday anniversary stating that his good deeds had made them and others to attend his birthday celebration.
The celebrant, Chief Osoba, who specially appreciated President Tinubu for gracing the occasion, said President Tinubu attended his book launch in 1980.
He equally appreciated the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, senate president, Godswill Akpabio and others who also attended the event.
He urged Nigerians to continue supporting President Tinubu administration and expressed optimism that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Highlights of the event were several donations from business magnets, captains of industries, politicians and hosts of others.
