A leading aspirant in the 2027 Oyo State governorship race, Chief Taofeek Adegboyega Adegoke (FCA), has dismissed rumours suggesting he has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or fallen out with Governor Seyi Makinde over the absence of the PDP logo and the governor’s image on his campaign billboards.

Adegoke, a billionaire businessman and prominent PDP stalwart, described the claims as false, mischievous and politically motivated, insisting that his loyalty to the party remains total and unquestionable.

Speaking on the controversy, Adegoke explained that the decision not to display the PDP logo on the billboards was deliberate and in line with existing electoral regulations. According to him, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has clear guidelines that restrict the use of party symbols and overt campaign materials before the official commencement of campaign activities.

He noted that the billboards currently in circulation are not campaign materials in the strict sense but introductory and awareness messages, designed to present his vision and personality to the people of Oyo State without violating electoral laws.

Adegoke further disclosed that all the billboards were duly approved by the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) before being mounted, adding that he would not engage in any activity that could breach the law or tarnish the image of the PDP.

“Those spreading the story that I have left the PDP or that I am working against Governor Seyi Makinde are only trying to mislead the public. I am a loyal member of the PDP and my commitment to the party is total,” he said.

To further counter the allegations, Adegoke pointed out that his personal vehicles and other campaign-related materials already bear PDP insignia, stressing that there is no doubt about his political affiliation.

He assured party members and supporters that the current billboards are temporary, adding that once INEC lifts the ban on full political campaigns, new billboards and materials prominently featuring the PDP logo would be unveiled.

Adegoke reaffirmed his respect for Governor Seyi Makinde and the leadership of the PDP in Oyo State, stating that his aspiration is anchored on strengthening the party and building on its achievements.

The clarification comes amid growing political discussions and early alignments ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State, with Adegoke emerging as one of the key figures attracting public attention.
