The Oyo State Forum of Local Government Executive Vice Chairmen and political heads has commended the executive governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, for his recent approval of an ₦80,000 minimum wage for state workers.

In a statement released to the media after their meeting today in Ibadan, the vice chairmen of the 33 local governments in Oyo State highlighted the governor’s responsiveness to the economic needs of the populace, especially the workers.

The Forum Chairman and Political Head of Ibadan West, Hon. Tajudeen Adigun Atuu, was represented by the Vice Chairman of Kajola Local Government, Dr. Robert Adeniji. While speaking, he appreciated the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE, for his exemplary leadership.

The vice chairmen praised Governor Makinde for his proactive approach to governance, describing him as a “populist governor” who consistently prioritizes the welfare of both the workers and the citizens of Oyo State.

They noted that this latest move to increase the minimum wage demonstrates his commitment to improving the standard of living and addressing the economic challenges faced by the state’s workforce.

“The approval of the ₦80,000 minimum wage is a testament to Governor Makinde’s dedication to the well-being of Oyo State’s workers,” the statement read.

“This decision comes at a crucial time when economic pressures are mounting, and it provides much-needed relief to our hardworking civil servants.”

The vice chairmen emphasized that Governor Makinde’s actions go beyond mere policy changes; they reflect a deep understanding and empathy for the everyday struggles of the people.

They credited his administration with numerous initiatives aimed at improving healthcare, education, and infrastructure, which have collectively contributed to the overall development of the state.

“Governor Makinde’s leadership style is inclusive and forward-thinking.

He has shown that governance is not rocket science but a matter of dedication and genuine concern for the people,” the vice chairmen stated.

They highlighted various projects and reforms implemented under his administration that have had a tangible positive impact on the lives of Oyo State residents.

In their joint statement, the vice chairmen expressed their confidence in Governor Makinde’s ability to govern effectively at the national level.

They pointed to his political and administrative acumen as key qualities that would serve him well in a higher office.

“We believe that, having made tremendous impacts in Oyo State, Governor Makinde possesses the vision and competence to lead on a larger scale.

His governance model, characterized by transparency, accountability, and a focus on people-centric policies, is what Nigeria needs at the national level.”

The forum assured Governor Makinde of their unwavering support and loyalty, pledging to back him in any future political endeavors.
