In his efforts to reduce crime rates and ensure an enabling environment for all and sundry within the Council area, before during after festive period, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government, Alh AbdulRahman Olanrewaju Adepoju has banned carnivals and other illegal gatherings outrightly across the nooks and crannies of the Local government Area.
He gave the directives at the December Local Government peace and security meeting held at the Council secretariat Onireke Ibadan.

According to the Council Boss, carnivals were meant to generate funds for the development of the community rather, the youths have turned it to opportunity to engage in immoral acts like stealing, smoking, raping, pickpocket and other nefarious activities hence the need for the outright ban of carnivals and any illegal gatherings during and after the festive period.

The Chairman reiterated that anyone found wanton shall be officially dealt with regardless of socio political status. Alh Adepoju implored the security operatives to enforce the directives on all concerned and ensure that security of life and properties of the residents of Ibadan Northwest Local Government are their priorities.

On traffic congestions in some areas within the Council area, the security personnels condemned the barbaric attitudes of the cycliists and motorists most especially at Eleyele area . They suggested that there should be database of all cyclists and motorists within the Council area as this will help track down anyone that committed or co-opted in any criminal acts.

On the issue of recent fire outbreaks in some areas, the security operatives advised that everyone should be mindful in handling electrical appliances and burning of bushes this period. All these should be done with cautions to avert fire outbreak. Also, use of fireworks during this festive period should stop outrightly.
