Member representing the Ibadan South East/Ibadan North East federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Abass Adigun, popularly known as Agboworin, has commended Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his efforts towards expediting the completion of the 671 Nigerian Air Force Base in Ibadan.
Agboworin, a two-term lawmaker and the Chairman, House Committee on Narcotic Drugs, had facilitated the establishment of the Base during his first term when he served as the Vice Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Air Force.
The lawmaker, in a statement signed by his Media Group and made available to journalists in Ibadan, noted that Makinde’s dedication to rapidly completing the Air Force Base demonstrates his focus on the security of lives, well-being and development of Oyo State.
Agboworin said: “The ongoing efforts by my Principal, Governor Seyi Makinde, towards the rapid completion of the Nigerian Air Force Base in Ibadan, is creditable and commendable. And I also see this as a testament to his commitment to improving the state’s infrastructure and security.
“There is no doubt that, under his leadership, the state has witnessed significant improvements in the safety and well-being of its citizens. Governor Makinde’s statement seeking the expansion of Nigerian Air Force operations and footprints in the state speaks volumes about how much he is after the development of the State and the people.
“This project was facilitated two years ago when I was Vice Chairman, House Committee on Air Force and I am sure it will serve the states in the South West better thereby complementing the one in Lagos State. So, let us acknowledge and appreciate his tireless efforts in making our state a better place for all.”
The Base, which is still undergoing construction, is being cited in Ajia village area along Ibadan-Ife Road, Ona-Ara Local Government, on 58.58 hectares of land donated by the Oyo State Government to the Nigerian Air Force.
The governor had, two years ago, performed the groundbreaking for the establishment of the Base and, when completed, would be far bigger than the existing one in Akobo area of Ibadan, which has been choked by residential buildings.
