Ona Ara Local Government, in collaboration with UNICEF, joined the global community to commemorate World Toilet Day 2025, taking its sanitation advocacy to the streets of Oremeji with a strong message aligned with this year’s theme: “We’ll Always Need Toilets.”

The awareness rally, aimed at promoting improved hygiene practices and the adoption of the “One Household, One Toilet” initiative, underscored the critical role of safe sanitation in community health and sustainable development.

A statement released after the sensitization exercise noted that the campaign was led by the Chairperson of Ona Ara Local Government, Deaconess Oluwabunmi Kolapo JP, who was joined by the management team and environmental health officers. The delegation also visited Atolu Community Primary School, where pupils and staff were engaged on the importance of hygiene and proper sanitation in line with the global theme.

The exercise highlighted the urgent need for households to invest in basic sanitation facilities, end open defecation, and ensure safe waste management practices to safeguard public health.
