Celebrating Teachers: The Unsung Heroes of Our Society
As the son of a dedicated teacher and as a favourite of many of my teachers, I know firsthand the tireless work they put in, often with little in return. Despite the meagre salary he received, my father, for one never hesitated to reach out to others—whether it was supporting family, neighbours, or their students. He embodied the true spirit of generosity and service, a testament to the quiet heroism that defines so many in this noble profession.
As a nation, we rise only as high as the legacies left by our teachers in diverse spheres – positive or otherwise. They are the architects of innovation, the foundation of our growth, and the sparks of creativity that light the way to progress. Their influence is woven into every learning process, every struggle to survive, every success story and every achievement.
On this World Teachers’ Day, let us take a moment to reflect on their immeasurable sacrifices and honour their unwavering commitment.
Having lived through the challenges academics faced and growing up on the campus of a University, I have seen the long hours, the relentless dedication, and the sheer perseverance it takes to shape young minds, often without receiving the recognition or support they truly deserve. It is time for our government to step up and address the needs of our teachers. They are the bedrock of our society—they deserve better. Improved welfare, fair compensation, and greater investment in education are not just necessities, but moral obligations.
At the Beulah Adeoye Foundation, we recognize the immense value of teachers, and as we have always done, I promise that in our upcoming outreach programs, we will intensify efforts to prioritise their welfare and support. They are not just educators; they are the builders of our future, and we must uplift them as they have uplifted generations of students past, present and future.
I call on every rise together and ensure that teachers receive the respect, appreciation, and rewards they so richly deserve.
Happy World Teachers Day
