It was a day of heartfelt celebration at the Oritamerin-Babanla (Odo Onisebe Bridge) area, Ward 7 of Ona Ara Local Government, as residents trooped out en masse to witness the long-awaited flag-off of a new bridge construction by the Executive Chairman, Dr. Temitope Kolapo Glorious.

For years, the collapsed bridge over the community’s river had become a symbol of neglect, rendering the area impassable during rainy seasons and cutting residents off from neighboring communities. But today, joy and relief replaced despair, as hope was rekindled through purposeful leadership.

“We thought they had forgotten us,” echoed community elders Alhaji Olatilewa and Mr. Sunday Oguntolu. “Successive governments heard our cries but turned deaf ears. The last intervention was under Hon. Taiwo Oke, nearly 15 years ago. Dr. Glorious has brought us light again. Our prayers have been answered.”

Addressing the jubilant crowd, Dr. Glorious emphasized that the project was a fulfillment of a campaign promise.

“This is not a favour but a duty. I made a vow to this community during my campaign, and today marks the beginning of its fulfillment. I remain committed to building a better Ona Ara, in line with the people-first vision of my mentor, Governor Seyi Makinde.”

Also in attendance was the PDP Chairman in Ona Ara, Hon. Mosobalaje Bakare, who commended the Chairman’s performance:

“Dr. Temitope Glorious’ leadership is grassroots-driven and impactful. Alongside the outstanding record of Governor Makinde, the PDP is clearly delivering real development. Our people can already see the difference.”

He was joined by key political figures including Hon. Mufutau Ogunremi, Hon. Taiwo Ibrahim, Hon. Taiwo Oke, Alhaji Waidi Adurodekun, and Alfa Kehinde Adeyemo, all of whom expressed support for the project.

Dr. Glorious announced that the new bridge will be completed within three months, urging residents, transporters, and road users to cooperate during the demolition of the existing structure.

This bridge project is another testament to the Glorious administration’s resolve to drive lasting infrastructure and development across Ona Ara Local Government.
