As Hon. Babalola Abiodun, PhD, marks his second anniversary as the lawmaker representing Ibadan North East Constituency 1 at the Oyo State House of Assembly, residents and stakeholders have applauded his transformative efforts and grassroots-driven leadership.

Over the past two years, Hon. Babalola has set a trailblazing record through legislative motions, community empowerment, and infrastructural projects that have significantly improved the lives of his constituents. His achievements, both in the hallowed chambers of the assembly and on the streets of Ibadan North East, speak volumes about his commitment to people-oriented governance.


Highlights of Hon. Babalola’s Two-Year Scorecard:

1. Installation of Over 250 Solar Streetlights across key communities including Odo-Osun, Akintayo Compound, Iyanna Ogboriefon, Aremo, Itabale, Labo Bridge, Aikulola, Jagun Compound, and many more.
2. First Responder to Market Fire Victims: Donated ₦250,000 each to victims of the Orita Aperin and Oranyan market infernos.

3. Health Support: Cleared medical bills for patients across various hospitals in his constituency.
4. Educational Initiatives:
Established a Study Centre for Senior Secondary Students.
Moved a motion for timely processing of students’ transcripts in Oyo tertiary institutions.
5. Security and Youth Protection:
Sponsored a motion to investigate the July 25, 2023 violent clash between drug gangs at Odo-Osun.
Supported Amotekun with solar-powered lights at their Ibadan North East office.
6. Road Infrastructure: Facilitated the reconstruction of the 3.5km Oke-Adu – Ode Aje – Aremo – Orita Aperin Road.
7. Support for the Vulnerable:
Distributed food items during Eid celebrations.
Donated cash and materials to persons with disabilities.
8. Legislative Advocacy:
Championed motions on:
Electricity metering to stop estimated billing.
Subsidizing food items and curbing artificial scarcity.
Regulating real estate agents to prevent rent fraud and exploitation.
Strengthening cervical cancer screening across Oyo State.
Restoring youth organizations like Boys Scouts in schools.
Renovation of PHCs across all 351 wards.
Safety at large public gatherings to prevent tragedies.
9. Employment Facilitation: Played a pivotal role in securing jobs for over 70 constituents in various state ministries, including TESCOM, SUBEB, Amotekun, OYRTMA, and the Civil Service.
10. Community Water Project: Reconstructed a borehole at Atipe Junction, improving water access.
11. Police Station Illumination: Installed solar lights at Agugu Police Station to enhance night security.
12. Medical Innovation: Participated in the official launch of the Hemoglobinometer device in Oyo State in March 2025.
As his third year in office begins, constituents are hopeful that Hon. Babalola’s vision and grassroots connection will continue to deliver democratic dividends.
