On Sunday, August 31, 2025, all the traditional rulers in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Local Government Areas paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Amos Ademola Adepoju.

Chief Adepoju passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Until his death, he was the Asiwaju of Igboora Land.
The traditional rulers, led by the Olu of Igboora, His Royal Majesty, Oba Jimoh Timiloye, had come to the Ibadan residence of the late octogenarian to sympathise with the family of the late Chief.

The traditional rulers from Igboora, Idere, Ayete, Tapa and Igangan had earlier sent emissaries to the family of the late Asiwaju of Igboora to formally announce the death of their patriarch in line with Yoruba tradition.

Addressing the bereaved family on Sunday, Oba Titiloye said they had come to commiserate with the first son of Igboora. The monarch expressed that the late Adepoju served his community and people diligently until his last day on earth.
According to him, every community is headed by a king, but when anyone is bestowed with the position of Asiwaju, they automatically become the first son of such a community, a position Pa Adepoju held until his death.
The revered monarch noted that their visit was to share the moment of grief with the Adepoju family and to symbolically portray the Christ-like lifestyle of a man whose life was characterised by love and selfless living.

In his own words, the Asigangan of Igangan Land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Olaniyi Ariwoola, said Pa Adepoju’s death was a loss to the entire Ibarapa Land. The monarch remarked that Pa Adepoju did not only impact his community but also his family.
He commiserated with the entire family, saying that Pa Adepoju, before his death, had replaced himself with his son, Hon. Adebayo Adepoju, whom he said had almost done all that his late father did in the area of human capital development.
The Asawo of Ayete, His Royal Majesty, Oba Emmanuel Ewuola Atilade, thanked God for the life of Pa Adepoju. The traditional ruler expressed that no amount of words could explain the kind of good life the late scholar lived, praying to God to continue to uphold the family.
The Olu-Aso of Iberekodo Land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Jamiu Adedamola Badmus and the Baba-Aso of Ibarekodo-Igbole Land, Igboora, His Royal Highness, Oba Ojo Joshua, expressed the influence of Chief Adepoju when he was the Rector of the Polytechnic Ibadan, which eventually shaped their academic pursuits.
According to them, the late Chief was a vast library and a man who prioritised the development of his people and community.
The Olu-Aso of Iberekodo recounted how the late Asiwaju of Igboora employed Ibarapa indigenes in different agencies and parastatals of government, especially when he was a full-time Commissioner at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Immigration, Prisons and Civil Defence Board.
In his own remarks as well, the Elempe of Tapa, His Royal Majesty, Oba Titiloye Sunday Oyekanmi, commiserated with the deceased family, consoling them not to see themselves alone in the trying times but rather that every community in Ibarapa Land felt the late Chief’s passing, as he left behind a good legacy.
Speaking before the family, the monarch said the death of the late chief made all of them to leave their respective communities to sympathise with the family, a gesture he described as very uncommon.
Closing the condolence visit with a prayer, the Onidere of Idere Land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Onikola Oyelami, sought divine protection and strength over the family left behind by the late Chief. He also appealed to the children to form a companionship around the wife of the late Chief, Chief (Mrs.) Elfrida Adepoju, as she has just lost her best friend.
In attendance were the Olu of Igboora Land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Jimoh Olajide Titiloye (JP); His Royal Majesty, Oba Kingsley Onikola Olufiji II, (JP), the Asingangan of Igangan, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rafiu Olaniyi Adeniyi Ariwoola;
