Theater in Politics…
By Lawal Adewale Mutiu ( The great Lam)
In the theater of politics, there exists a cast of characters whose performances are nothing short of captivating. Among them are those who, with eloquent words and grand promises, woo the hearts of the masses during the fervor of election season. They adorn themselves in the cloak of servants, pledging to bring about a utopia where dreams are realized and problems are solved. Yet, once the spotlight fades and the ballots are counted, their masks slip, revealing a different persona altogether.
These are the ungrateful souls who, having tasted the sweet nectar of power, forget the sacrifices made by others on their behalf. They wander from the path of integrity, forsaking the very ideals they once championed. Like actors in a tragic play, they feign wisdom and superiority, oblivious to the disillusionment they sow among those who believed in them.
But let them not be mistaken, for the stage they stand upon is not eternal. The applause of today may fade into the echoes of tomorrow, but the narrative of their deeds will endure. Time, the impartial chronicler, inscribes their actions into the annals of history, where no veil of pretense can conceal the truth.
To those who invest their time, energy, and resources in the pursuit of a better tomorrow, let it be known that your efforts are not in vain. Though the road may be fraught with disappointment, your contributions form the backbone of progress. Your sacrifices, though often overlooked, are the seeds from which change blossoms.
And to the faithful followers who place their hopes in the hands of leaders, let caution temper your expectations. While optimism fuels the engine of democracy, let it not blind you to the frailties of human nature. Keep your gaze steady and your convictions firm, for it is in holding true to your principles that true strength lies.
As we traverse the unpredictable terrain of politics, may we all be mindful of the legacy we leave behind. Let our actions speak volumes long after our voices have fallen silent. And when the time comes to reap the harvest of our deeds, may we find ourselves not in the cold embrace of oblivion, but in the warm embrace of a legacy worth remembering.
