Six Years in Office: FOS Hails Governor as Trustworthy and Visionary Leader

As Governor Seyi Makinde marks six years in office, the Friends of Seyi (FOS), an astute support group, has lauded his administration for its transformative impact across Oyo State. The group commended the governor’s commitment to infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and economic growth, describing him as a “trustworthy and visionary leader.”

Alhaji Ismail Aderibigbe, President of FOS, highlighted several key projects that have reshaped the state’s landscape. Notably, the construction of the 67.675km Iseyin-Ogbomoso road, the dualisation of Old Ife road, and the ongoing Ojurin Akobo to Olorunda’aba and circular road projects have significantly improved connectivity and boosted local economies.

“Governor Seyi Makinde has demonstrated that he is a responsive leader who prioritizes the welfare of his people,” Aderibigbe stated. “His administration’s achievements in infrastructure are turning previously neglected areas into thriving communities.”

In the healthcare sector, Makinde’s government has renovated and equipped numerous Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across the state, enhancing access to quality medical services. The establishment of the Solarised PSA Medical Oxygen Plant and Level 2 Newborn Unit at Jericho Specialist Hospital exemplifies the administration’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery.

Education has also seen significant advancements under Makinde’s leadership. The abolition of the N3,000 school levy has increased school enrollment, and the state’s takeover of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) has strengthened higher education. Additionally, the upgrade of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education into a University of Education reflects the administration’s focus on educational development.

FOS also praised the governor’s efforts in enhancing the state’s economy. The administration’s policies have attracted significant investments, particularly in agriculture and agribusiness, contributing to job creation and economic diversification. The state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) has seen a substantial increase, reflecting the effectiveness of these initiatives.

As Governor Makinde continues his tenure, FOS expressed optimism about the future, anticipating further developments that will solidify Oyo State’s position as a model for good governance in Nigeria.
