Member representing Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Abass Adigun, who is popularly known as Agboworin, has expressed his desire to facilitate the building of two police stations to tackle insecurity and reduce crime in the constituency.
He stated that many other projects are in the pipeline including women empowerment, which have been enlisted in his 2024 budget.
Agboworin, who is the Chairman of House Committee on Narcotic Drugs, stated this recently during an interview session on a popular radio in Ibadan, Fresh FM, anchored by Mayor Isaac Brown, while reeling out the proposed items he aims to achieve for the year.
While assuring people of the constituency of more dividends of democracy, the two term lawmaker added that there are more projects he his planning to facilitate aside the two police stations, particularly in the area of education, health, among others.
He said: “In my budget for this year, I want physical projects; what people will see and smile. In view of this, I hope to build standard police stations in my constituency.
“I do appreciate physical project a lot because it is something that will make great impact in the lives of my people. The one of Police station is in terms of tackling insecurity and crime, which I believe is very important.
“This is different from the Zonal Intervention Project, which a Rep Member is entitled to. But as for other things in the House, you have to go and fight for them by using your influence. So, I make bold to say that I am fighting for this to bring it down to my constituency.”
Agboworin, who had earlier distributed school materials to primary and secondary school students across his Federal Constituency, equally noted that other items in his budget include training and empowerment for women as well as facilitation of more solar light and gated-community, which are aimed at tackling insecurity.
He said: “I target our women mostly because they are our mothers. I target our women mostly because they are our mothers. If a wife has a job and can make money in his business, she will be able to take care of home and reduce the burden on her husband.
“Let me also add that there will be more solar light than before. I decided to make it like that because I prioritize security. The one I just did recently, nobody lobbied before I put them in the strategic places where they are right now.
“Sometimes at night, I walk around these places in my constituency to check for the spots where the lights are most needed before I conclude on where to put them. So, I will continue with the light up project, water, erection of gates because I have identified some areas where we are going to install them.”
Assuring that a school would be built within the shortest period of time, the lawmaker explained that he has arranged for a special location to achieve that purpose.
He said: “Also, I will build school and repair some schools. In fact, a location has been picked for that purpose and I have done my home work to pick a school that needs extra classrooms and submitted it for this year.
“By the grace of God, next year, we will be able to achieve that. So, the people should know that the more a lawmaker returns to the House, the more he gets links and opportunity to fasttrack meaningful projects for his constituency,” he added.
Agboworin, however, called on the constituents to make conscious efforts in taking good care of all the projects he had earlier facilitated, saying that they should all own them and not allow anyone use them as if they belong to no one.
