The member representing Ibadan South-East/North-East Federal Constituency, Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin, has disowned a fake Facebook account impersonating him in an attempt to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

The user of the fake account, bearing the name and image of Rep. Agboworin, has been engaging individuals on Facebook Messenger, falsely presenting itself as the lawmaker, inquiring about users’ occupation and business registration status before claiming to facilitate access to a so-called Federal Government Agricultural Empowerment Fund purportedly running under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture.
A statement by his Media Group on Tuesday, in Ibadan, distanced the lawmaker from the fraudulent activity, stressing that Rep. Abass Adigun Agboworin has no involvement whatsoever in such schemes.

According to the statement, the lawmaker does not operate personal empowerment funds; does not solicit individuals via social media, and does not recommend anyone for financial benefits in the manner described.

Rep. Agboworin’s official engagements with constituents are conducted transparently through recognized channels, not through private chats or unsolicited online messages.
The statement read, “The public should note that this account is fake and does not belong to Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin.

“This is a deliberate attempt to defraud innocent citizens and to tarnish the hard-earned reputation and integrity of the lawmaker.”

“Members of the public should exercise extreme caution, disregard any messages requesting personal information or offering empowerment funds under the guise of Rep. Agboworin’s name, and report such accounts to relevant security agencies and social media platforms.”
